European Clarinet Festival Kortrijk Belgium

The Capriccio Clarinet Orchestra was founded in 1989 by John de Beer, clarinettist and conductor, and is now with 35 musicians one of the major clarinet orchestras of Holland. By using the different kinds of clarinets (from Ab to Contrabass) Capriccio has the same range as a symphony orchestra and is able to play works from the international symphonic repertoire. Beside classical music Capriccio performs klezmer, selections from musicals, jazz and folk music.

Under the professional and enthusiastic direction of maestro John de Beer Capriccio performs at stages in Holland and abroad. Capriccio toured in Denmark, North-Wales, Hungary, Australia, Russia, Spain, Switzerland and Italy and gave special concerts at Eisteddfodd (Wales), Giro d'Italia, Australasian Conference in Brisbane (Australia), Clarisax Day in Modena (Italy), NERV-Convention in Utrecht (Holland), First World Bass Clarinet Convention in Rotterdam (Holland), Makletsky Hall in Yekaterinburg (Russia) and three Royal Palaces: El Pardo, Aranjuez and La Granja. (Spain).

Major classical works as The Moldau (Smetana), Concierto de Aranjuez (Rodrigo) and Symphony 9 From the New World (Dvorak) were specially transcribed for the Capriccio Clarinet Orchestra by John de Beer. Capriccio gave concerts with many great clarinettists as Jozsef Balogh (Hungary), Pedro Rubio (Spain), Paolo de Gaspari (Italy), David Etheridge (USA), Matthias Müller (Switzerland), Don Burrows (Australia) and guitarist Trond Davidsen (Norway).
